Bill Viola – Installations

Tristan’s Ascension (The Sound of a Mountain Under a Waterfall), 2005

Bill Viola is internationally regarded as a seminal figure in the field of video art who has been creating video installations, pieces for television, opera, and sacred spaces for more than forty years. The works of the California based artist, born in 1951, masterfully utilize sophisticated media technologies while exploring the spiritual and perceptual side of human experience, focusing on universal human themes − birth, death, the unfolding of consciousness − and have roots in both Eastern and Western art as well as their spiritual traditions.
